When Rupinder Singh and Jaswinder Singh, the two brothers were arrested by the Punjab Police on October 16 for their alleged role in the desecration of the Guru Granth Sahib at Bargari village in Faridkot, it was clear that they were being made scapegoats by the police. In fact, these two brothers had taken part in protest against the desecration of the Guru Granth Sahib from the very beginning. One brother was even severely injured in brutal police action on protesting Sikhs.j

Now, the police have told the court that there was no sufficient evidence or reasonable ground of suspicion to justify their police or judicial custody, they should be released. After this, Judicial Magistrate Satish Kumar ordered the release of Rupinder Singh and Jaswinder Singh.

This whole drama enacted by the police has shown that the police was beating about the bush in this case of the desecration of the Guru Granth Sahib. The police have lost their credibility by their act of shooting in the dark. It is good that the case has been handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
