Targeting civilians is a distinctive characteristic of terrorism. However, so far as the issue of \u2018threat\u2019 is concerned, I would like to make a point. The purpose of a threat is \u2018to terrorize\u2019; and \u2018to terrorize\u2019 is terrorism.<\/p>\n
Terrorism is an evil ideology, which uses \u2018terror\u2019 as a resource to get hold of its goal. A terrorist can spread \u2018terror\u2019 with or without using weapons. Ordinary civilians can be terrorized merely by rumors too. And, \u2018a threat\u2019 is even more serious \u2018weapon\u2019<\/p>\n
A terrorist can commit a terrorist activity by using \u2018a threat\u2019 only. Suppose, a terrorist aboard an aero plane has an apple wrapped in a piece of cloth. It is not a bomb, just an apple. He issues \u2018a threat\u2019 and says, \u201cI have a bomb wrapped in a piece of this cloth.\u201d And then he tries to hijack the aero plane. In this case, the terrorist has no weapon in his possession, but he uses \u2018a threat\u2019 to commit an act of terrorism.<\/p>\n
Making threats to spread terror, to provide funds to terrorists, to give weapons to terrorists, and to provide a terrorist with any kind of help should also be considered a part of \u2018wider\u2019 definition of terrorism. Even if we believe that \u2018a threat\u2019 is not \u2018terrorism\u2019, we have to accept that \u2018a threat\u2019 can be used as a weapon of terrorism.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
