Here is an email I got from one of these brothers, which contains information on unshorn hair in<em> Vedic<\/em> religious books:<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\">1. <em>Rigveda<\/em>: All the <em>Gandhrav<\/em> people had unshorn hair. Hair is divine blessing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>2. The mythical gods of sun, water, medicine, vegetation etc have unshorn hair.<\/p>\n<p>3. The mythical Hindu god <em>Inder<\/em> has unshorn hair and it is the hair that gives him real strength.<\/p>\n<p>4. In the <em>Rig-Veda<\/em>, there is a prayer; made by the Brahmins that asks the people to seek from God the gift of long hair.<\/p>\n<p>5. According to <em>Manu<\/em> all Hindus must wear a turban donned on his head.<\/p>\n<p>6. According to the <em>Valmiki Ramayna<\/em>, <em>Ravana<\/em> had long hair. <em>Ravana<\/em>&#8216;s companions were deeply pained when <em>Jatau<\/em> pulled <em>Ravana<\/em>&#8216;s hair.<\/p>\n<p>7. <em>Muni Sukdev<\/em>, who used to give sermons to the council of the kings, had unshorn hair.<\/p>\n<p>8. King <em>Virat<\/em> had unshorn hair<\/p>\n<p>9. <em>Durbhasha Rishi<\/em> too had long unshorn hair and beard.<\/p>\n<p>12. According to the commandments of <em>Brahmi Sahinta <\/em><em>(Bhavikhat Puran<\/em>) &#8220;only those who have unshorn hair have a right to be rulers of the land.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>13. <em>Dharam Shastra<\/em> forbids the <em>Sanyasi<\/em>s from cutting their hair.<\/p>\n<p>14. According to <em>Dharam Sahinta<\/em> cohabiting partner should not touch the hair of each other while making love, in order to preserve the sanctity of their hair.<\/p>\n<p>15. According to <em>Ketya Samriti<\/em> one should always cover one&#8217;s hair while taking meals<\/p>\n<p>19. The Hindu sociologist <em>Manu<\/em> says that if a Brahmin commits an act of sin his hair should be shaved off.  It is more than hanging him.<\/p>\n<p>20.
